Beginning Tuesday, April 13, 2010, the Internet Protocol (IP) address and domain name for Antivirus definition files will be change. The DNS entry for Antivirus definition files is currently hfnetchk4.shavlik.com. The DNS entry for the Antivirus definition files will be changed to av.shavlik.com.  The Internet Protocol (IP) address for the Antivirus definition files will be changed to 173.204.52.34.

This change affects the Antivirus definition files Only. There will be no change to the IP Address or domain name for Patch Data. Shavlik is upgrading its XML server web farm in order to continue to provide you with the highest service levels possible. This upgrade will help ensure that Shavlik data files for both Patch and Antivirus are continuously available.

For most customers, this change will not impact normal Shavlik product usage. For customers who have modified their firewalls for outbound IP access to hfnetchk4.shavlik.com for Antivirus definition files, a change may be required on the firewall to enable connectivity to this new IP address and domain name.

Shavlik encourages customers who have opened outbound firewall access for Antivirus signatures to hfnetchk4.shavlik.com to modify their firewalls to allow access to this new IP address and domain name before the change is made on April 13, 2010.
